Capri sits twenty five minutes off Sorrento by hydrofoil, and it changes completely depending on when you arrive. Get there on the first boats and you have the Piazzetta, the Gardens of Augustus and Via Krupp almost to yourself. Arrive at midday with the day trip crowd and you queue for everything.
Our part of the day is the land part: we get you to the hydrofoil terminal in time, we handle the tickets if you want us to, and we’re waiting when you come back. On the island, cars from the mainland aren’t allowed, you move by open taxi, funicular or on foot, and that’s part of why Capri is Capri.
Highlights
- The Piazzetta, the Gardens of Augustus and the view down to the Faraglioni
- Anacapri and the Monte Solaro chairlift, 589 metres straight up
- The Blue Grotto, weather permitting, and only weather permitting
- Villa San Michele, built by a Swedish doctor with a view worth the climb

Good to know
- The Blue Grotto isn’t a certainty. It closes with even a moderate swell, and the decision is taken on the morning, at the cave. It’s closed more often than visitors expect. Treat it as a bonus, not as the reason for the day, or you’ll be disappointed.
- Entry to the grotto is by rowing boat, one at a time, lying down. It takes about five minutes inside. It’s remarkable and it’s brief.
- No mainland cars on Capri. Our vehicle stays in Sorrento. On the island you walk or use local transport, and there are steps everywhere.
- The last hydrofoils fill up. In July and August the 17:30 and 18:00 crossings sell out. Buy the return in the morning.
- Winter is different. From November to March crossings are reduced and cancelled more often for weather, and much of Anacapri is shut. We’ll tell you honestly whether it’s worth it on your date.
Add the airport or the port
Capri is a day at sea. The way in and the way out of Italy is still a road job, and booking both together costs less than two separate transfers.
Frequently asked questions

For the Piazzetta, the Gardens and Anacapri, yes. For the boat tour around the island as well, it’s tight. Two half days across two days is better, if you have them.
